Sometimes, in fact, most times, you have to remind, and actually COMMAND your soul to BE STILL. This is because ever since the spirit of man got disconnected from God at the event of the fall, man’s soul also got detached and became subject to the prince of this world, who rules with enticing, but burdensome pressures from the world outside. The harsh realities of … Continue reading “Be Still My Soul…” Finding Peace in Times Like This

Fear manifests through pessimism, depression, oppression, obsession, insecurity, narcissism, negative addictions, rage, and similar physical, mental and psychological issues.
That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear.
Luke 1:74 (KJV)
And as though these negative tendencies are not punishment enough, fear plagues the victim even further, especially when he sets up a defence mechanism in his subconscious to help deny the realities of his true state.
An example is when a deep feeling of insecurity or inferiority causes an individual to be obsessive, addictive, egoistic, or excessively critical of others, so as to draw people’s attention away from himself and cover up for his inadequacies.
All these negative traits activate a chain reaction of negative consequences, and the ensuing bitterness bites deeper, and spreads like a pandemic by the day, destroying relationships, and passing on a legacy of animosity from generations to generation.
Alas!
However, the Good News is that Jesus came to destroy and rescue us from the guilt, power and consequences of sin, of which fear is chief!

He came to rescue us from the grips of the aftermaths of sin and fear, to disrupt the negative domino effect, and to reverse the evil consequences; thereby healing and restoring our lives and destinies to God’s original intention.
That happens when you open up your heart to receive His free gift of salvation, and you pay attention to His precepts.
In summary, Jesus came to disrupt the status quo and to break the natural drift towards ‘death’, which manifests via fear, sickness, weakness, wickedness, poverty, failure etc., and eventually climaxes in physical death. He came to set new orders and establish new living standards.

“Here’s another old saying that deserves a second look: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.’ Is that going to get us anywhere? Here’s what I propose: ‘Don’t hit back at all.’ If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it. And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff. Live generously. Matthew 5:38-42 MSG
In essence, apart from dying for us, Jesus also came to teach us how to LIVE. Receiving Him entitles us to Eternal Life. This’ Eternal life’ transcends ‘existing forever’. All men will ‘exist’ forever anyway. Eternal Life means LIVING and not merely existing. It is the highest quality of Life, and it connotes abundant Life.
A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have realand eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
John 10:10 MSG (emphasis mine)
Are you plagued with fear today? Are weary of how the aftermaths of fear have robbed you of quality life?
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
Then, it’s time to turn to Jesus, and cry out,
“Lord, heal, save and deliver me from fear and the chain reaction of its evil consequences in my life. Break that chain today Lord, and set me totally free in my spirit, soul and body. Free to love and serve you Lord. Free to love my neighbour as you commanded. Restore my soul, Lord and re- align me with destiny. Let me experience the full essence of Your resurrection power, such that from today I start to really LIVE and stop merely existing. Please grant that I begin to LIVE out the full reality of all You made me to be. In Your precious name I ask it. Amen.
