Why I Wrote The Book “14 Inspirational Thoughts For Teens” – Ufuoma Fijabi

I am sure a lot of people would love to know why I chose the number ’14’ and wrote just 14 thoughts in this e- book. I will share the story behind it.

We all know February 14th as St Valentine’s day, a day celebrated all over the world as a day of love. Back in 2007, shortly before my NYSC, I kept wondering if people really understood what love really is.

There was always so much noise about that day and many teenagers and young people only ended up with broken hearts, broken dreams, wasted destinies and making costly mistakes.

So I set out to write some thoughts on love to inspire someone out there, which I hope to share someday. I wrote one thought for each day from February 1st -14th, hence the name ’14 Inspirational Thoughts.’

In that same year, as I pondered about the choices many teenagers were making and are still making today, I got inspired to write some thoughts that came to my head.

The teenage years I believe is a very important and delicate season of life. In this season, teenagers will either find purpose and direction for their lives, or be misguided and led astray to thorny paths. Of which some may be broken for life and others will have deep scars to show for their wrong choices.

I believed then that words could inspire these teens to make wise choices and also live a life that will inspire others. Hence ’14 Inspirational Thoughts For Teens’ was born.

This was about 10 years ago. But I finally found the courage this year to share those words with the world. And the message still remains fresh and relevant after many years.

It is my desire to see teenagers who will choose a focused life and also find purpose and direction for their lives early enough.

They desperately need good role models who can give them sound counsel, encourage and challenge them, nurture their young minds to think productively and also mentors who will sow positive seeds of faith, hope and courage in their lives.

Some of us are willing to become their inspiration with our words, our voices and how we live our own lives. This is my mission.

It is a season of love, find a teen and inspire him/her today.
